Guarana is a South American berry, that when extracted, consists of guaranine, a substance identical to caffeine. For thousands of years, natives of the Amazon used the seed extract to help maintain stamina and physical endurance. Traditionally it was also used to assist in the relief of various ailments such as stress and nervous tension, weight control, headaches and hangovers, and even menstrual pain.

In addition to treating the conditions listed above, Guarana is useful for mild diarrhea, intestinal cleanser, urinary tract irritation, and headaches of a rheumatic nature. Some claim it has aphrodisiac effects, though there is no evidence to support this claim.

Since Guarana has caffeine effects, it is advised to limit daily intake to a maximum of 600 mg a day. Those who have high blood pressure or heart conditions should not use this supplement.

I'm thinking no wonder it's keeping you awake, along with the caffiene, the product itself is like caffiene. As far as I know caffiene is addictive, and if you have anxiety disorders or chemical imbalance I'm not sure this stuff would be all that good...I think eventually it might be sparking more stuff.

Hope this info helps you out.
