Music, especially the right music, is key to getting me out of my dark episodes.
I find that I have to load my own playlists so that I avoid any songs that would send me in the opposite direction of where I want to go. OR I go to my favorite oasis, DI.FM and choose a station that has music sans words. That way, I can listen to random music and dont have to worry about the words.
And I agree, when I am down, definitely NO love songs!!
