I think most people aren't.

We really live in a paranoid, shaming culture. People who put themselves out in the public eye risk being ridiculed - not by 'everyone' but by enough anonymous jerks and trolls on the Internet - that most people who are at all sensitive hesitate to make themselves that vulnerable. What a mean world we seem to have created!

There are lots of caring people, though, newtus. Lots. We're the majority, even though it doesn't look that way right now.
