I don't know you so I don't know what surprised you.

Before I was diagnosed I saw myself as a tad AS. I think in a way it is still correct and was even more correct in the past when diagnosis was more stringent. If I look at DSM I barely fit the criteria, you need to shoehorn me in.

Still I know I have always been different. But when I grew up, autism was only severe autism and as fascinating as I found it I wasn't that of course. Yea so in a way I was surprised as well.. LOL.

AS has been seen as a diagnosis among boys so the more girlie type of AS is kind of just starting to be understood. It's the same with ADD, girl ADD was totally misunderstood but now they know more about it.

I was also diagnosed through tests, which I appreciate. I don't like when a DX is the doc's guesswork, has been like that with my misdiagnoses in the past, they just guessed......
