I know. It's hard to see someone you love self-destructing.

My husband has a good friend whose wife is also an addict, and he's such a nice person that even though she has dragged him down so far he just can't let her go.
It's not healthy for either person.

Sometimes people need to lose everything before they can change everything. Sometimes, that doesn't work either.... but, there isn't anything you can do. It's out of your hands.
