The grocery store represents a situation in which you could see yourself free to choose whatever food for thought (or ideas) that would give you emotional satisfaction. Yet when using this way of thinking your mental attitude is not really “up front” – not very honest or legitimate. (you are near the back of the store) When using an option that is also not upfront nor the best (the back door), there is an aspect of your mind reflecting very poor thinking (the guy) that allows you to direct emotionally devastating criticism at aspects of yourself on a psychological level. (guy starts shooting people)
Using this poor thinking you are specifically directing self criticism at your ability to be “up in arms”, i.e. to get angry and perhaps create a fuss. (you are shot in the upper arm) This self criticism against your ability to get angry seems in the right or correct.(shot in the right arm) While you find this somewhat distressing you do not perceive this act as causing you any real harm. (the shot didn’t really hurt) There is another aspect of yourself that appears to be using a quite legitimate option (someone comes in the front door) when directing your criticism towards the abdomen. This can imply directing the criticism towards the issue of your guts or courage. Yet in this case this criticism is indicated as being wrong. (shot on the left side) But again you perceive no harm to yourself coming from this self criticism.
You appear to be in no hurry to seek the help of a way of thinking which could offer a cure for the after effects of self criticism. (no hurry to get to the hospital) This is so probably because you do not sense that this action of self criticism can be emotionally devastating to a person. (didn’t feel like I was dying) [In this dream scene the two shots coming individually at you, one after the other, indicate that the self criticism would appear as if a positive – or good – act. This would also imply this act might give you some emotional satisfaction. Yet because of the two shots that have been fired, it indicates that this type of criticism reflects a negative and wrong way of thinking.]
