PurpleMist, your story reminds me of something that happened to my brother when he was in first grade. He was a brilliant person. He knew how to read before he started school. So when the teacher was teaching the other kids how to read he got bored so he would "act up". The teacher's solution??? To send him to the school library - TO COUNT THE BOOKS!!!!! Yeah, you read that right! Sent hi to the library to COUNT books, not READ them!!!

The video you linked to is soooo disturbing. What's really disturbing is that the adults involved are still in the classroom. I admire folks who teach "special needs" and "exceptional" students. It can be challenging. But if they reach a point that it's gotten to be too much do something else!

There are tons of good teachers out there. But boy howdy the damage one bad one can do!
