Well, I agree that this is a huge mess. I think education is the key here. As well as making treatment more available to offenders. Thing is, it's an illegal act, and not many are going to come forward to get help preventative or otherwise, because afterall, it is a crime.

I am not sure what the key answer to this all is, but I know there are groups out there trying to make headway with this. Understanding what drives a pedophile...Typically, pedophiles have trouble relating to people their own age. They need to feel they have power and control in a relationship, which is easy with children. Educating our children is key part. It is true most abusers are someone that child knows. It's important that children know about inappropriate behavior by anyone, and that they are not to keep "secrets" as such.

There is no cure for pedophilia, there are treatments to control it.

One of the best ways indivuiduals can do something is by speaking out, lobbying your state senate, represenatives, congress, selectmen, etc.. to make a change. Change comes in small steps sometimes...
