anti depressants are probably one of the most over prescribed medication (a little like antibiotics). GP's hand them out fairly much like candy for anyone experiencing 'problems in living' whether or not they meet dx criteria for depression.

They wouldn't make you super happy (in case that was what you were thinking). It isn't like they are literally 'happy pills'.

There would be the same / similar problems with side effects and withdrawal and stuff.

I'm not sure on the long term effects and the like. But then... We don't really know about those in the case of depression either... Do we?
