I have known several people with Asperger's. Some I worked with doing speech therapy, and some in residential treatment for behavioral problems (although the residential treatment center I was working at did not turn out to be a good setting). I strongly suspect that my father has always had a mild case of Asperger's. I think my brother-in-law has it too. My sister has a fascination with Asperger's (I could put you in touch with her if you like - she is a psychiatrist and this is one of her research topics). Let me know if you would like me to forward a message to her. She's not on this site, but I could give her your e-mail and she would write to you.

I honestly have a lot of respect for people with this disorder, and I believe that it does not have to limit you. I found a website on Autistic Spectrum disorders with a page by a young man who has Asperger's and is succeeding in life and has pride in who he is. http://www.thegraycenter.org/nickdubin.cfm I found his comments to be inspiring.

I don't think that I have Asperger's myself, but I believe that more people have mild Autistic spectrum symptoms than are recognized. I have some sensory integration symptoms myself, but few people even know what that is. Sensory Integration Disorder is also on the Autistic Spectrum. Autistim involves sensory integration symptoms, but people can also have those symptoms alone. There is more information about that on the Gray Center website too, and more can be found by searching the internet.
