Does being co conscious help a person to get better? The alt that has been out lately is rude and loud and unsettling. He is set off by a hair trigger. He always stays out for a while. I don't like that he stays out and then hangs around.
for some people having co consciousness does help in the process and for others it doesnt. co consciousness in not a necessity for healing. i was not co conscious with a majority of my alters. co consciousness was not in the cards for me and most of my alters.

that doesnt mean I wasnt able to work on my problems that came from my having DID. my treatment providers and I just had to go about it a different way. instead of working from the point of co consciousness because I did not have that ability we worked on things like grounding, work on what memories I did have and other daily living problems that DID caused me.. this in turn made it possible for me to heal... as I became stronger the alters who were doing the jobs I could now do merged with me because they no longer needed to do those things for me.

your alters will continue to come out as long as they are needed to do what ever jobs, purposes, reasons for being that they were created to do..

one way to work on things with out co consciousness is pay attention to when this alter comes out, figure out why you dissociated at that moment, the action of you dissociating is what causes alters to come out. find out why you dissociated at that moment and you will know what you need to do to heal even without being co conscious.
