DDNOS in laymans terms is

Dissociative Disorders Not Otherwise Specified...

here in America that means you have dissociative symptoms but do not meat any of the diagnostic criteria for any one dissociative disorder....

example

if you are here in america...it may be that ...

you space off /zone out /....
have memory problems and seem to have alternate personalities

but you do ....not.... meet any of the diagnostic criteria for

depersonalization disorder which is feeling detatched, spacy and other feelings that are like an observer, sense of reality is still intact meaning you know whats real and what isnt, and these symptoms cause problems in your functioning in your daily, social, educational and work life.

derealization disorder is things like feeling like the world is not right, your sense of reality is in tact meaning youi know whats real and what isnt, you just feel the world is not connected to you, is moving at a different rate then you are, like you have no connection to anyone or any thing outside yourself.

dissociative amnesia forgetfulness that goes beyond the normal realms of forgetfulness, which does not occur exclusively with other mental and physical health problems, and is not because of drugs and alcohol, and is usually related to some sort of traumatic event. causes significant functioning and distress during normal functioning of daily, social, educational, work life.

dissociative Fugue sudden unexpected and unconscious travel away from home or work, with inability to recall ones past. identity confusion/ taking on a new identiy and life. usually caused by a traumatic event. not caused by drugs alcohol or other mental or physical health issues.

Dissociative Identity Disorder having two or more special kinds of alters that take control many times, having forgetfulness that goes beyond the normal realms of forgetfulness, the problem is not caused by drugs, alcohol or other mental and physical health issues and is not imaginary friends or other fantasy play.

other countries may have other dissociative disorders and other diagnostics for DDNOS then america has. and may be using a different diagnostic manual than the USA (america ) uses (which is the DSM)

also please remember that the USA diagnostics for mental disorders will be changing in a few months. to keep track of the new diagnostics and when they will be available you can go to this website...
