Dear DubbleMonkey,
Having another car attached to your already long train of disorders is NOT a perfect excuse to die. In fact, you insult me by this statement, although I do know this was not your intention. My train of 'conditions' is equal in length to your own. Would you have me use this circumstance to end my own life?
Do I deny the truth of Juliet's night musings, while on her balcony she asks,
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself."
DubbleMonkey, have the windows to the world fogged so fully that you fail to see me for who I am? I am Danish and Finish. Does that make me blonde and blue eyed? I am female, does that mean I love pink, and to shop. I am mentally ill, should the public should fear me? Does this description change me so that now I am somehow incapable of complex thought?
Tell me, Dubble Monkey...what is in a name?
"What's Autism? It is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man."
And when I next return to the psychiatrist, I, too, am expecting another 'condition' to be added to my chart. Are you saying that when this happens, I have lost my character and reputation? Must I now be defined solely by my illness? What of my passion for word play, and reading? Or my love for hostessing parties? What will be done with the description of me as helpful, or kind? James! Would you have these bits of me taken from my arms? To be tossed upon the burn pile?
It matters little, how many cars are attached to our engines, my sweet DubbleMonkey, surely you can see, that you are the same man that is known by the name James, now, as you were before the diagnosis. I should hope that you will continue to see me as your friend, Flee, and not a sickness.
Dear, sweet, James, remember...
My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.
In care and companionship, for my friend James,
-Flee
