Hi Melissa,
ADHD/ADD is nowhere near the end of the world - it's common and heaps of people who have it go on to achieve great things.
Getting a diagnosis is a very good thing as many of the treatments are very effective and well tolerated. Your son will hopefully feel a whole lot less frustrated with going to school because with treatment he will be much more able to follow what's going on and to participate in class activities. This makes a huge difference to behaviour.
So far ADHD has not prevented me from getting through pharmacy school and I'm now coming to the end of my first year of medical school. And there are many many others like me!
Try not to worry too much and good luck on Wednesday.
