Have you ever heard of telomeres? They are like the little plastic caps on the end of shoelaces that prevent the lace from unraveling, except that telomeres live on the end of chromosomes and protect our strands of DNA. They don't come with an expiration date, per se, but I tend to think of them as being a marker, like an hour glass, measuring the time we have left.
