Fluttrbye, I didn't participate in the backyard bird watch, but I enjoying watching birds. I live way out in the country and get to see lots of different kinds of birds. In the last week I've seen ring necked doves, osprey, sandhill cranes (must have been twenty of them all together!), wild turkey, turkey vultures, Marsh Hawk, red tailed hawk, cattle egrets, crows and what the Petersen guide calls "confusing brown warblers."
A few months ago I had the great luck to see two sandhill cranes doing their mating dance. What a treat!
A pair of ring necked doves have built a nest in the barn. They are raising their second clutch of babies this season.
