Drinking doesn't keep you on your toes. This is just a cop-out. It's just an excuse to keep on drinking. Sorry, but I'm not buying. it.
I used to make all kinds of excuses to keep drinking. I had loads of them. Until one day I looked into the mirror and saw a sloppy, disgusting drunk looking me in the face. Even THAT didn't stop me from drinking.
You know what stopped me? My husband and i were sitting in a bar, and he was drinkiing and so was I. He turned and looked at me and said "You're a rotten mother." (Like HE was such a great father?) Anyway, that DID it. I left the bar, went home and called AA. That was the beginning of a new life.
Not long after that I filed for divorce too!!! So I got divorced and sober at the same time.
