I find myself frustrated with this new generation. One co-worker was talking about needing to make more money. I pointed out that I had gotten him an excellent job all he had to do was apply. His response: I would have to bring home $2,800 to match the benefits that we're getting from the state. WHAT!!! He chose to have three kids. His wife chooses not to work. In her opinion it is child abuse to work when you have children. Yet, two perfectly healthy fit adults are getting food stamps, Rental assistance, power assistance (whatever it's called now), and cash.

I get angry and shake my head, but which one of us is the fool? I've worked since I was 14 years old with one exception (had a breakdown about 6 years ago). He works part-time, his wife stays home, and my tax dollars pay his bills. Another 20something young man, married with a 1 year old was mad as heck that the state cut down their food stamps and cancelled their rental assitance when they found out that his FIL was working full time living with them. A neighbor would only work 20 hours a week so he could collect unemployment for TWO YEARS. He had his own cash business on the side. He assumed that my daughter was getting state benefits when she was in college because she had no income. When I told him of course she did not, she worked 60 hours a week all summer long and holiday breaks so she could live off campus. He was actually said she was stupid for not getting what she could. Where did this attitude come from?
The attitude was created, people want small government but for some reason more and more people want to DEPEND on the government which causes government to grow bigger. People dont realize they are perpetuating a cycle of dependence and then they get mad when the government sticks thier noses in thier buisiness when it comes to other things, well of course they will when you expect them to play mommy and daddy to you for the rest of your life. Its one thing to collect in trying times but when you start taking advantage and dont make the effort to stand on your own two feet dont be surprised when you wake up one day feeling like the government controls you and like you are taxed beyond your means.
