Okay....I feel the need to explain the "inside" joke for those who don't get it. Call it the school teacher in me. Mr. Dent's name is the main character of a book series by Douglas Adams called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was made in to a movie a few years ago but I believe it bombed. The answer to life is 42....but they are in a never-ending quest to find the question....and if you should leave home, don't forget your towel. My favorite quip is how to fly. You jump off of something very high and forget to hit the ground. Anyhow, I severely digress and apologize for hijacking your serious thread...he started it!

Don't arthur dent and ford prefect end up playing scrabble and try to find the ultimate question from a random pile of letters. they end with WHAT IS SIX TIMES SEVEN. I didnt thinkthe film was much good and it didnt really add anything to either the books the radio series or the bbc adaptation all of which are good.
As to the meaning of life. There is no meaning, we are just here by pure chance, a collection of atoms that has developed consciousness that revert to something else when we die. No god, no afterlife etc etc. I dont understand why people think that there has to be a meaning to it all. If some people need religion to help them get through it all then thats ok ( as long as it doesnt hurt anybody else). I may be proved wrong though i doubt it. The universe doesnt care about us only in the quantum world but when we go our consciousness goes with us.
