Last summer we took our granddaughter to the zoo. We stopped at Burger King for lunch. While we were seated in the play place a couple came in with their toddler. The blonde turned out to be a female. I know this only because she said "let mommy take your shoes off." They both had their pants hanging below their hind end. And were wearing their over sized shirts (that did not cover their underwear may I add). Which is why I did not immediately recognize the blonde as female. Anyway the toddler took off running as toddlers will do. Someone was coming into the playplace so the door was open and he ran right out. Neither one of them could pull their pants up to run after the kid. Another customer caught him and brought him back to them. My immediate concern was what would have happened if that would have happened outside? How are you going to be able to pull your kid out of traffic if you cannot move at more than a snails pace?

Now I don't like their sense of fashion. I'm sure my mother felt the same way about my valley girl outfits, balloon pants, and parachute pants (I would kill for the latter two today! Talk about comfort!) However this particular fad can have some serious safety issues. Given the fact that the don't walk sign means nothing anymore. Teenagers just randomly stroll across the street anywhere they get the urge, what happens when they step out into traffic and their pants fall and trip them?

I've always wanted to go up and ask one of them how they keep their pants up. I just do not understand how they defy gravity. Are there some sort of garter type objects holding them up somehow?
