I went to the nearest station to get gas, and noticed that the gas cap was loose. I always tighten it after filling up! I do live in a "marginal" neighborhood, with a lot income levels, mostly lower level. The only precaution I can take right now is that I set up motion lights around my car. My garage is too full of "stuff" to park it in there, but I may have to do some serious rearranging to park it in there safely. This is a sign of the times, I fear!
Edit: Oh, also I plan to order a locking gas cap!
Good idea and sorry this happened to you, gas is a bit pricey. I would recomend also having a mechanic check out the car and make sure you do not have any leaks, just to be on the safe side.
