Wellbutrin is another option for quitting smoking. They used to market it as Zyban. It works differently but might be a option her doctors might accept.

Wellbutrin helped me quit and I think I should quit again but cannot do it on my own and I know Wellbutrin would require I go back on a mood stabilizer and pretty sure Chantix is risky business without other medication and with bipolar.

So I may have to accept my resignation to being a smoker.

I know there are nicorette products and quitting cold turkey but I've done both a few times before and ended up in such a messed up state. The moods and anxiety of quitting smoking goes beyond normal for me and does not go away after weeks or even months. Nicotine products over the long term might work. That drug does something for my mental state not much else does.
