that depends on the person.
when I was hospitalized first I was taken to the ER for a two psychiatrist and medical doctor evaluation (needed for involuntary status this is bypassed if the commitment is voluntary) I was then strip searched to make sure I was not carrying drugs weopons and so on.
Then on the unit I was given my room and shown around the unit, weighted in, vitals and so on. given my dinner and then I could be in my room or in the lounges with the other patients.
The next day I met with the therapist assigned to me and a treatment plan was drawn up as long as I ate my meals I was find. when I did not eat my meals a "pee cup" was added to my toilet to measure outcome and my food / beverage intake was monitored. when I continued not to eat, a feeding tube was added it was removed once I reached a certain wieght and I was back to eating my meals again.
I attended group therapy and art therapy, nutrician classes and individual therapy sessions.
I was released two weeks from my intake date.
If I hadn't been eating and holding my weight I would have been either kept longer or moved to a longer term facility.
