If you are not low income and dont have insurance you may be able to get help at your county mental health office. They often will provide services on a ability to pay basis.Often people with an average income can get help because if you were to get insurance now that you have been diagnosed, your psych sevices would not be covered because the insurance company would consider your illness a prexisting condition . so check with your local mental health services . You may need to start at the health department , sometimes the office is within the health deptartment.
My Husband is self employed as well . If it weren't for the county mental health clinic I would be s**t out of luck . Try the county web site first and go from there. Also Check out NAMI. They have a website too.
Good luck to you ,
