What exactly don't you give a sh- about? Socializing, your functioning, what people thing about you, work, rejection, etc.?
It is very true that life is a game whether we like it or not and if you don't have game you become an outsider, open yourself to rejection and/or criticism, etc. And people with hardcore mental illnesses are ignored for the most part.
Alan Watts (Professor, Eastern Philosopher) explains exactly why Western Culture is a game and why we become alienated with ourselves from day one. And the concept of "Self" turns into a complicated game of "Hide and Seek" and the "True Self" becomes difficult to achieve because we are forced to play a part in this Drama called Life. (The Hindu religion is based on the fact that life is a drama and the True Self becomes lost.) Just something to think about. No preaching. Watts is a very good speaker and he unravels obstacles that prevent us from achieving who we really are inside.
All of these Western ideas and mentality piled on top of mental illness virtually cripples a person, imo. So don't put all of the blame on yourself.
