Sorry, Tmontana94, alcohol is a drug, so you're not free. Having said that, what you are experiencing could be anything, frankly: budding alcoholism, ADHD, ultradian cycling in bipolar illness, or a depressive state in bipolar illness.

I've never been manic, so I couldn't tell you except to say
that one can lose one's reasoning capacity, have delusions, hallucinations, and go on huge spending sprees, etc.I have been told by one psychiatrist that mania is a reaction to depression.

By the way, if you're ADHD, your diet needs some correcting. Read what you can about exorphins in wheat and how they affect the brain. (See Dr. David Williams' best seller Wheat Belly for current information on the damaging effects of wheat on the brain.)

If I were in your shoes, I'd see a psychiatrist to find out what you need to do to get things straightened out in your life. You need to address your alcohol use first of all, in my opinion. Then the other things will be more reliably treated by a specialist.

I hope you do settle in for some serious academic work and that you can spare yourself the long-term consequences of drug abuse.

Good luck.
Thanks for this!
