You may think you have your SI undercontrol, but the truth is, it probably has you. SI is am addiction. When you cut yourself, your body produces endorphins, which are your body's natural pain killers and can make you feel better temporarily. Usually, you are hooked before you realize it. How many times have you heard or seen on T.V. alcoholics or drugs addicts say that they have their drinking or drug taking under control? If you can't walk away from SI right now and never do it again, you are already addicted.
No matter how careful you are, infections, maiming or death can result from SI. When those things happen, its not because you were attempting suicide, they are accidents and mistakes. All it takes is one badly placed slash and a nerve or tendon is cut. If you hit a vessel, you could bleed out. Infection can happen even if you are using a sterile blade. Don't kid yourself, don't fall into that trap. Stop while you can.
