Part of what depression consists of is the lack of motivation. It makes you tired, sad, sometimes phsically painful. This is not a time to think about taking on projects other than finding out what is at the bottom of your depression.

I really wish that depression and other emotional and psychiatric illnesses would not continue to be treated like oddities. Regardless of whether you actually read the tabloids at the store counter is immaterial. You see them, and they are covered with scandals about people being depressed, or having breakdowns etc. That makes it just that much harder for those of us who are depressed and makes us feel like we have something to be ashamed of.

Please don't blame your depression on yourself or think of yourself as lazy. Step out of yourself for a moment and ask yourself what you would think if you saw someone like you who was depressed and had no energy. Would you call them lazy?Would you think they were bad? Probably not. You need to give yourself the same courtesy you would give someone else who was hurting as you are.

I don't think I have run into you before, so I dont' know if you have been in therapy or not. If not, this would be a good time to look for a good therapist. If you have and were not happy with the one you had, you may just have had the wrong one. Just as you don't click with everyone you meet, not every therapist will be one you can work with. Many people have to go through two or three before finding one that they seem to do well with.

You are worth helping. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Depression doesn't mean you should give up. There is a way out. You just have to find it.
