I was thrown into a hypervigilence and PTSD episode due to actions that happened with daughter's pregnant friend. I could hear my daughter on the phone screaming, "mommy, mommy help!" I couldn't reach her. She was fine because her boyfriend was there and was wonderful by doing no more, but no less than the situation called for to keep my daughter and her friend safe. I'm proud of him.

This boy had terrorized his girlfriend (daughter's friend) and was coming back to do more when daughter and her boyfriend were there to get her to safety. He kicked the picture window in and was coming through. I go to court with them today...moral support for this girl who doesn't have an adult to help her. She's 7 1/2 mos pregnant, alone, and already has gone into pre-term labor twice.

Anyhow, it triggered something in me...not being able to protect in the past (my baby brother), the screams, just ugh, UGH.

The very next day I start feeling sick and weak. How that hinders the hypervigilence necessary with me when I'm in active PTSD.

Has anyone else noticed the illness, either long-term or short-term, increases their symptoms of PTSD?

KD
