Hey kimmydawn,

My husband is the one who pointed out to me that the first manifestation I usually have of physical sickness is an anxiety attack. I think oncoming physical illness taps into those long ago feelings of helplessness. Maybe too the interference of physical sickness with our hypervigilance leaves us feeling more vulnerable than we are comfortable with. I don't know if I am explaining this coherently but this is sort of how I look at it. Still when I start having anxiety attacks, it usually takes my husband to point out that I may be getting sick. Very often he is right.

Bipolar disorder with very long depressions and short hypomanic episodes. I initially love the hypomanic episodes until I realize they inevitably led to terrrible depressions. I take paroxetine, lamotrogine and klonopin.
