yes unfortunately lr fortunately depending on a persons own treatment plans, location , culture, religion.....some dont "classify" alternate personalities as "human"
for example the diagnostic criteria calls those that are with in....alternate personalities, identity's...
here in New York treatment providers use definitions of a human is the person born to the body (bones, mucles, blood...all those physical tangible properties of a human body, ) and the definition of a a humans personality is the thinking process...how one thinks/perceives their self, how one interacts with their friends, family, community,..
here in New York which is in the USA depending upon the type of alternate personalities they are and what mental disorder the person has, those with in are called alternate personalities, identities, ego states, alters, parts, fragments, protectors, hallucinations, delusions, persecutors, introjects and many other names that describe, what they are, who they are, how they were created, what mental disorder the person has, and other diagnostics type questions treatment providers use to classify mental disorders and determine which type of insider a person has. there are other terms to to describe a persons personality whether that personality is split off or not like funny, happy, sad, angry and other moods/emotions.
having DID in New York is a Catch22 kind of thing, the treatment providers, society and the American psychiatric association doesnt consider the insiders to be human because they dont have their own physical body, they share the hosts body. but yet each alter and sometimes the host .....feels....perceives...thinks of....those with in as separate human being..
with me it never mattered whether my alters were human or not, they were how ever they were before I was diagnosed so after I was diagnosed they continued to be who ever and how ever they were. like my therapist told me after diagnosing nothing changes what already is. it only puts a name to whats /who is already there. so I never worried about what my alters were called and they never worried about that either. for 20 plus years they were what ever they were created for, they had their own jobs, purposes and reasons for being and someone telling them you're not human doesnt change that. so they didnt worry about being called alters, parts, introjects, protectors and all the other words to describe them.
it doesnt matter what you are called, all that matters is that you are there, and there for a reason, you have a job , purpose and reason for being, nothing will ever changes that.
