no good deed goes unpunished.... whew, that's a little brittle, isn't it? swimming upstream has it's drawbacks, but, it sure is hard for stuff to sneak up on us....... har har har

Seriously, if intent is pure, and later revealed mistakes are honest, admitted, apologized for, learned from, and used as motivation to further our growth, it is easier to look at our woopsie actions/thoughts and humbly forgive ourseves our shortcomings and consciously decide how to move forward.
Intending to do a better job next time.

It's not that we mess up, it's how we clean up. ya know?
