I'm a recovering alcoholic with just over 21 years' sobriety under my belt. Booze was my self-medication of choice since the age of 16, not knowing I had BP. The urge to drink never completely goes away, not even after decades.......and even if I were to think about indulging, I'd be too scared to mix ETOH with my meds! My liver already hates me, I've got the elevated enzymes to prove it.
Mixing bipolar medications with booze is not a wise thing to do, in my honest opinion, but we're all over 21 (I think) and it's up to the individual.
