Do you have sleep apnea or some type of circadian rhythm disorder? There are many reasons why you cannot reach REM sleep [& when you do, it's not for long]. My boyfriend has some sort of anxiety disorder as well as sleep apnea & both interrupt his ability to dream. Or at least remember his dreams.

Since I don't know you, I can't deduce whether the repetitive/disturbing dreams are trauma surfacing or you're having weird brainwaves in your sleep. I sometimes get seizure/migraine activity while I sleep & I get what I can only describe as a night terror. Sudden onset, short duration dreams which give me a sense of panic or dizziness, often accompanied by feeling incredibly dazed or sweaty when I wake up.

Whatever it is, I hope you find an answer to your troubles soon!! Look up online sources about proper "sleep hygiene" & tips on remembering more of your dreams.
