Family members keep popping up. Just found out I have a cousin, two years ago I suddenly had a grandfather, an uncle and four aunts and who knows how many neices. Does anyone else have this problem?

I buy them christmas presents but I have no idea who they are. Sometimes I get invited to their birthday, but seriously I don't care about them. Makes me feel kind of bad. It's family so I should care, but I don't know these people. And what's with the hugging?!!?? Stay away! Why do family see it as their right to hug you?
