Getting a doctor's note is probably the best thing you can do for your work, Hydrophobic. If you're sick, you definitely shouldn't be in that environment. (In fact, you may be getting repeated bouts of sickness partly because of the patients' illnesses being spread around through the air vents, for goodness sake.)

I'd look for another job if it continues.
