hi everyone,
I got discharged from the hospital yesterday. I was in for 4.5 weeks and it was mostly a good experience aside from the first 4 days. For the first 4 days, I was on a general locked ward - no therapy and it was really scary.
Then I got transfered to the women's inpatient unit, which is for women with a trauma history and an acute mood disorder. It was really good. I saw my psychiatrist 3x a week and met with my primary nurse for about 1/2 an hour every day. She really helped me work on my self esteem. We made some minor med's adjustments, but are leaving the bigger one's for me to discuss with my regular pdoc. There was lots of group therapy during the day, and volunteers came in at night to put on programming.
I got a lot of knitting done when I was there.
About the only downside was the building I was in was an older building so it barely had hot water, so most of my showers wound up being cold.
I'm back home now, and glad to be back in my own bed.
I'll be going back to the hospital 2x a week for the next 6 weeks for outpaient therapy.
