Yesterday morning according to custom I peeked out the kitchen window to check if the North Alley Bunny (NAB; a wild rabbit) was in his or her usual place. Yes, he/she was, but something was squirming underneath NAB:
The squirmer turned out to be a rather mature newborn, brave enough to follow Mommy out into the world but still eager to nurse. (This resolved the mystery of NAB's sex.)
When Mommy was far enough away not to be disturbed by my presence, I looked around the yard. Yes, I found a nest, the fourth in under two years out back within the fence.
