When I'm watching TV or a movie, I, at times, repeat things (out loud) that the characters/people say and even imitate some of the actions in RL. For example, if a character yells or acts in an extreme way, I'll try to imitate it exactly to see if I'm capable of doing that as well, if I see a fight I'll pause the movie and I'll try my hooks and jabs to see how I'd handle the situation, or put myself in that situation etc. I can avoid doing this in public, so I have control over it, it's just something I usually do at home. I'd maybe expect this kind of behaviour from a kid, but not an adult, so it just seems kind of really odd, more so when I explain how I actually act. Anyone know anything about this type of thing, or is it just me?
Hi The Next One.

Normal is term that I personally dislike-- what is normal?
"wanting to be normal" or "do normal things" can really drive some people up the walls... Some times we just need to find - what is right for us, rather then trying to find what is 'normal' to do.

You mention that you can avoid doing this, so you have some control over it. Flexing that control when you are alone may be a bit practice but none the less, you mention you can control not to do this in public.

Perhaps you have a bit of an imagination? I just mention that because of this line here you wrote:

Many people do this in their heads, they play out things of "what would they do if this situation arises?".. It sounds like you just like to actually get into the pose of what you would do if it did arose.

The mimicking I am not sure...
Do you feel comfortable with in yourself?- or are you trying to be someone else and trying to imitate them?

OR it could be that you like to act

And may I ask what is wrong with doing "kid things" as an adult
I have spent most of my life being repressed from doing kid things due to it was thought of acting out or not proper or not right, or I should grow up faster.....

I myself, am learning that some things that are seen as "kiddish" are actually healthy for adults to do in moderation and in appropriate times.

Is this really problematic or are you judging yourself too harshly of what you feel as if "you should be doing"?

I just ask because this does not seem to be harming any one from what I read, but then again i could be missing something.

I think you are right too about it being a behavior thing....

Behaviors can be changed-- we just have to work at what we want to change for ourselves

Many hugs and good thoughts your way
