This is why i became obsessed with the film Equilibrium, it's got Christian Bale and Sean Bean in it. It's about a futuristic society where all feeling is banned, you are not allowed to look at art, you are not allowed to listen to music, you can only read certain books that have been vetted by the government. In order to stop people from feeling everyone has to take a drug called Prozium twice a day, it's a drug that inhibits human emotion. but of course it's impossible to completely supress all emotion so you do see the odd sign of emotion coming through. Failure to take your Prozium is a death sentence, ownership of of prohibited books or pieces of art is punishible by death.
I became fascinated by this film, by a society where no one feels or shows emotion. I watched it again and again, i started to become convinced that this was the way forward, why didn't we do this, we didn't we all have a drug to suppress our emotions. I definitely recommend you see this film if you haven't already. It really is a masterpiece, a vision of what a future could be like. I'm no longer convinced that i would want to take such a drug and live in such a society but it is a fascinating film.

I counter the effects of "Prozium" by taking 1170mg. of "Avatar" daily!
