I now have the Mirena IUD. I have NO periods, NO pain, and it offers a small degree of protection against cancer.

So no need to suffer when there are better alternatives.
I had too many hormones for too long (the pill for like 20 years...my normal period is about a week long anyway, and heavy, so I started taking the pill early, also because I was so sick for the first few days). Anyway, so eventually I was having awful breakthrough bleeding and messed up periods. I got the copper IUD since it has no hormones, which is what my gyno said I really needed to make things more consistent again (I do trust her, and she was right).

So I am not exactly enjoying myself for that week, but no break through, not too many cramps, and everything is very consistent, albeit longer and heavier than I would prefer, I guess I can't have it all.
