One thing you can do is study history. You will find that there were many religions that predate Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. And you will find elements of these religions that were borrowed by the Jewish and Christian and Muslim religions. You will also find that there were earlier civilizations whose religions had giant turtles and birds as deities. And some civilizations that had no religions at all.
