Sound like a combination of events and biology---I am well past menopause but your symptoms sound very much like the mix of hormones in transition attached to understandable daily frustrations (financial barriers/whatever) and loss of someone important.
Are there activities that you do enjoy? (she asks plunked on the couch bidding time till work asserts itself)---Some women find (I did) physical activity (a combination of aerobic and relaxing/stretching/yoga type) helpful and I have been reading about some recent studies on some herbal treatment of menopausal symptoms that sound promising----you might want to get on the women-'focused support group to talk with women who have similar issues.
