I was also in a similar situation - I was on one antidepressant, and the dr. told me it would take 6-8 weeks to take effect. I really wanted to wait it out because I desperately wanted something to work. And thought if I ask to switch, every time that I switch there's another waiting period, and chance of it not working. I felt nauseous and lightheaded, and it was really hard to deal with. I never felt any positive effect. I asked to switch a few weeks ago, and have switched. Now I'm waiting for this one to have an effect, but not experiencing any side effects anymore was such a relief. The doctor's are used to drug changes, and you should be comfortable calling and asking questions about what you're experiencing anytime, so don't be shy - just call!
