I have suffered with Insomnia since I was 10-11 years old.
For
myself all the "sleep hygiene" is of no help for me . I have tried many many Medications and finally one that works 95 % of the time.
Talk to your Pdoc and make sure they really understand. keep a log of the hours you sleep , how long it is taking you to fall asleep and how many times you wake each nite. That is the kind of information your doctor needs to treat you accordingly.
