The thought of saying mean things to you never even crossed my mind. Getting into college can be a stressful, ego smashing experience. Depending on the field you want to study, your past performance, whether you are in state or out of state and any recommendations from former teachers are all thrown into the acceptance pool along with your GPA. Getting into a college can be scary, frustrating and ego smashing.
I went back to school 11 years after I graduated from high school. My GPA wasn't that good because at the time I was so depressed, I didn't care about much of anything. First, I went to a community college to raise my GPA. After that I transfered to a private college. From there, I started applying to several veterinary colleges. What I was told later by one of the teachers in the vet school was that there are things that weigh more than your GPA. Most colleges want their students to do well and graduate, because it makes the school look good. They choose the students they feel have the best chance at graduating. They look at other things you were dealing with in your personal life during the time you were taking classes. Keeping a decent GPA while having to work at the same time, or having a family you are supporting.
Apply to as many colleges as you can. if you don't get into a college, find out why, and try to rectify whatever the accepting commitee didn't like. Keep applying. During both my undergraduate and vet school, there were several students who had applied several times before they were accepted. Just because you don't fit what a college wants this semester, you might fit in the following semester. Don't give up on your dreams. sometimes it takes patience and multiple tries to get where you are going, but don't give up.
The same goes for life. Don't judge yourself so harshly. Whether or not you are accepted by colleges has no bearing on who you are as a person.
Since you have applied to colleges where you are, you can look into colleges in Mexico, the caribion or other areas. Often times they will take students who don't have the best G.P.A.s. They aren't bad schools. I had people in my class that had transfered from those areas and were just as good as the students who got their education in the states. Don't listen to people who tell you that you can't do what you want. If you put the work in, you will succeed.
