It really depends on the facility. I was in one where everyone was of mixed severity and my roommate yelled to herself in Hindi all night. I was also in one that separated voluntary from involuntary and another that had an acute care unit for more severely ill patients and a chill unit for calmer people. That one was great, you could earn grounds privileges and leave the unit unsupervised for awhile. So I guess it really dpeneds where you end up. But it's better to go if you're feeling unsafe.
