If you go there voluntarily, I don't think they can really make you do anything. They would likely recommend medications and maybe other treatments or whatever but they can't force meds or anything unless it was absolutely necessary like it will prevent you from hurting yourself or someone else......obviously there are medication free interventions that could be done as well but I don't think any of that is exactly pleasant.
I was rather afraid of ending up stuck there involuntarily especially when they took me off the klonopin I was taking(it wasn't helping but they probably should have reduced the dosage more slowly than abruptly cutting me off) as it was pretty hard to control myself during what I imagine was some sort of withdrawal from it. But luckily that didn't happen and I was able to get out before not being able to go outside at all got to me too much.
It may not be bad at all, it might kind of suck as it could be boring but its better to be safe and bored than in danger from yourself I suppose.
