I hate to be the bearer of bad news. There's not a way (that I've read) to stop or delay a state (mania, Hypomania or mixed). Starting a med(s) is a good idea but it takes time (weeks) for meds to kick in. It's my understanding ppl usually ride out the state or go to respite or a hospital.
