Any idea why he didn't want to take it? maybe he was having bad side effects? So perhaps convincing him to take it is not the right way. Maybe there are other non-drug treatments or other medications he would deal with better.

Or maybe its emotional issues with having to take a medication, it might make him feel lesser than others or something so maybe therapy would help or something. Not quite sure but that's what I can think of.
